When they first come across Horizon, one of the first questions every single person asks is “how is Horizon different than Couchsurfing”?

Couchsurfing is a single global hospitality exchange network (the largest, but not the only), while Horizon is a mobile hospitality exchange technology platform. Rather than re-creating a Couchsurfing-like hospitality network, we are focused on building the best technology to enable hospitality exchanges to take place among members of any existing trusted community.

If you are an active member of the Couchsurfing community, you largely trust other couchsurfers. If you’re not a member of Couchsurfing (the vast majority of the world), you likely don’t. That said, you do trust friends, and friends of friends in some cases. You trust others in professional associations, service organizations, and alumni groups to which you belong. We put you in control over which people and communities you are willing to host.

If you really think about it, everyone on the planet (that travels) couchsurfs. Most just happen to stay with trusted individuals rather than strangers.
